  • Avoid like the plague. I am not a fussy customer but the experience I had with Sam at A Plus Tailor was so incredibly bad I had to warn others. I came in to get 7 shirts taken in (loose material) and he pinned each one while I put them on. We got along great and he seemed nice. When he went to ring up the total it was 64$ PER SHIRT! I was kind of in shock, but without a lot of time to think about it I ended up paying. Who charges before tailoring anyway? I drive home and realize just how expensive that is. My shirts only cost me 30, and I'm paying double that to have them fit a bit better? I can get a from-scratch custom shirt for 85 CAD. So I call him 20 minutes after leaving his shop (literally 20 minutes). I say I thought about it and I wasn't expecting it to be so expensive and that I can't afford it. He gets audibly irritated and says it will be a 20% cancellation fee. Instantly the nice guy I dealt with in store turned into a greedy shopkeeper. I told him I was just there 20 minutes ago and he starts grumbling about transaction fees and stuff. Now I'm not an unreasonable person and I told him I'd be willing to give him 10% for his time he spent pinning my shirts etc., would have been about 40 or 50 bucks (for 40 minutes? that's a steal!). He says no, 20% is policy and that's how it is. Shocked at the absolute drought of customer service I decide to swallow the 20% (it is technically policy I guess) and I go to pick up my shirts. He offers me 20% off my order to keep my business (proof that his prices are a complete rip off to begin with). I don't want anything to do with this guy so I say no, I'll just take my shirts. He does the refund, charges me GST twice (again, greedy scumbag shopkeeper) but it's 5 bucks and I just want to be done with this guy. I ask him if he can leave the pins in since I'm paying him 90$ for basically nothing and I'm going to get family to stitch it. He says no, that's not how it works! Unbelievable, I'm paying this guy 90$ for 40 minutes of pinning and he can't even give me the fruits of that work!? Not even to mention that he said if I had said no before I paid that I could have just walked out, so I'm really not even paying him for his time either cause that could have been free! I am so utterly appalled at his greed and lack of customer service. So here I am, 90 bucks in the hole and literally nowhere with my shirts. Please, find somewhere else, all this guy cares about is ripping you off and keeping your money.
