| - Having the largest capacity of spring training venues, Sloan Park nearly reached the 15,000 limit when we watched the Tribe take on the defending world champion Cubs. There's no doubt this park open for its fourth season, has a Chicago feel to it from the familiar Wrigley marquee, to the slope of the outfield designed to match that of the bleachers of the North side Chicago stadium, to Giordano's available for those missing a stuffed pizza. With most of the big guns yet to return from he World Baseball Classic, we got to watch some of the up and coming young talent of both teams on a beautiful Friday afternoon in late March.
These were the toughest tickets to get a hold of out of three games we attended with availability only on StubHub and with a pretty decent mark up. Get there early for closer $5 parking and to grab a good spot if you have lawn seats. We arrived about 30 minutes before first pitch and had a 15 minute walk to the stadium with very limited space left on the lawn. Don't forget the sunscreen too if you're in the outfield berm, or you'll have a one sided farmer's tan/burn just like me. If you're looking for shade, seating in the stadium is the way to go.
Chicago food along with aforementioned Giordano's, is plentiful and you'll be able to find Chicago dogs, Italian beef, and if you look hard enough, you can even score an Old Style brew. Expect major league pricing for everything, including $8 for a domestic pounder. We missed the singing of Go, Cubs, Go as the Indians won in a blowout.
