| - Pretty much didn't want to say anything about this business again. I didn't even Yelp for a long time because of the bad taste in my mouth. But due to genuine inquiry from Yelp member ~ I will respond.
I had a "friend" who told me over and over again of situations where they were being singled out by a staff members, being treated badly & ignored and drinks slammed down ( hostility) no response to requests, etc. At first I considered the temperament of my "friend" and thought maybe he had rubbed them the wrong way or something, but, I kind of dis-regarded it until one time when I met that "friend" there & I witnessed it myself. I was treated great but my friend was NOT. We were sitting at the same table. THE ONLY 2 AT THE TABLE. WOW!!!
Okay, so maybe my friend (with some of his eccentricities) did something to offend someone, who knows? So I continued to patronize. Until 1 evening I came in and was hanging out with some of the staff( great people, I miss them) as they were getting off work had a couple drinks but sat and witnessed on the patio someone in a CK shirt acting very rude to a female - scary rude. Patrons: a cute little couple, a guy and a girl ~ they were cute little Yuppie types, college kid types or something, but obviously she had had a bit to drink and her date went inside to probably use the restroom or get their ticket I don't know but they have the guy with the CK shirt on acting very perpetratory towards her in her dates absence. This gal, I can assure you, would be lucky to have even remembered what she was experiencing the next day or for the next five minutes for that matter. I am 49 years old and I know what it is to see a perpetrator targeting someone in a weakened state. Her date came back and he scooped her up a little bit to help her outside. Comments were made from the employee to them as they left with laughter (one sided). And as they came around and we're walking behind me in the parking lot trying to make it to their vehicle there were still comments being made until that customer yelled out "why don't you leave us alone we're just trying to leave you need to leave us alone" and the employee (I only knew who he was because he yelled out) "what are you going to do about it who you going to tell I am the security at CK's!!!" OMG...
I emailed my "old friend". I felt horrible that I never really believed what he was saying to me. Keep in mind, none of these situations were directed at me. At CK's they have some wonderful staff that are smart brilliant people that can brighten anyone's day. The food I miss so much. I miss my patio and I miss my misters ~ most of all I miss my friend. It was our Spot. When I have sent good review of this business it's owner immediately (within 30 seconds) responded thanking me. When I sent that review, she didn't respond at all. She didn't have to believe anything I had to say - she only had to look at the tapes. I gave her the dates and the time frames. She never asked/cared what happened. What I mean about having benefits being members is that there are specific dollar amounts that occurs so a business can pay to be a part of a Yelp membership and they call up and complain about my friends (honest) review of their business and then they said that it wasn't true or whatever and got it taken down. It wasn't until later that I saw what their security guard did to that couple. I thought Kendra would call me.
I work in private sector Healthcare. I am also a local business owner. I am a single woman who wants to feel safe when she goes out to eat, drink & work. There are only two drinking establishments locally that I will NOT return to. I have seen business owners perpetuate specific behavior (even require it) from servers or staff to victimize men and women and it's actually part of their business model. Didn't have to happen to me. Not at CK's, anyways. But if it had or even just a "friend" I can assure you I won't be back.
