| - Dishonest company. Local monopoly and acts as such.
First sign of dishonesty, I should've taken note of but did not, is the message that one gets waiting on, and on for a human to pick up the call: "Due to an unexpected call volume your wait will be longer than usual". Instead of hiring more operators, Cox calls everyday volume as "unusual". Normal wait time for Customer Service is at least 30mins on hold.
Second sign of dishonesty - make sure that you check your bill and get reference numbers for any discounts promised. I didn't and got charged 30% more than promised. The Customer Service disowned any discount, even though they've admitted that indeed there was a note on my account in which I was told about an offer, but the offer was never applied to my account.
Third sign of dishonesty - after being overcharged, I've canceled my account. To my dismay, I was been told that I have to pay an early termination fee. Without me knowing, without any promotions applied to my account, with me having to pay for my own modem, having to pay for service installation twice (I moved, and that's considered a brand new install), Cox got me into a 24 month contract.
Keep away, but unfortunately there aren't many other alternatives in Phoenix. Me? I moved to Dish Network for my TV fix, and couldn't be happier.
