| - I saw Dr. William T. Stewart for a knee injury. Not only did we wait 2 hours (a little over 2 hrs. actually), he was insensitive and just plain rude at times.
When he entered the room he went right into asking me questions. He didn't apologize for the outrageous wait time or even introduce himself. When he started examining my knee he didn't tell me where he was going to touch or when and I feel he was not as gentle as he could have been. I jumped and started crying because it was extremely painful! He said, "this is going to take a long time if you continue to do that. I need to examine you." Absolutely no empathy whatsoever.
After we took some x-rays and explained what he thought was going on, he said he was going to refer me to another Dr. in the practice (see my other review). In a rude tone he asked me, "Why did you wait so long to come in?" Well, let's see. I went to Quick Care the day it happened. They told me I needed to see a specialist. This was 4 days before Easter. I waited 1 week for a referral and then called Desert Orthopedics for their first available appointment with whatever Dr. could see me at whatever location. That's when I met Mr. Personality (Dr. Stewart). I would have came in a lot sooner but it's not always that simple. Insurance, money, kids, transportation, jobs, scheduling....these are all things that us little folk have to take into consideration. I was miserable and unable to walk. I came as soon as I could.
He also kept mentioning how I most likely needed knee surgery soon and how I needed to prepare for that. I feel like for some reason he was trying to scare me. I wasn't expecting him to be all unicorns and rainbows or to sugar coat anything, but I left there feeling like my knee was dangerously messed up and my only option was surgery.
Before we left (my toddler and husband were there with me) he gave me a painkiller script. We went straight to Target and the pharmacy was unable to fill the script because he didn't provide all the necessary information. I called Desert Orthopedics and of course they were closed (we left there past 6 pm). I was in so much pain and had to wait until the next morning when the pharmacy could call Dr. Stewart about the script (I also left a message with the after hours service).
Something else that bothered me was when he ordered my MRI it wasn't somewhere my insurance covered. So I had to spend an entire day (seriously) getting that taken care of.
I would not recommend Dr. William T. Stewart at Desert Orthopedics to anyone I liked. It was a very unpleasant experience and if was possible to give him 0 out of 5 stars I would have.
****Dr. Stewart's P.A., Jay, was awesome. He was so sweet, helpful, patient and empathetic. After my appointment, he put my knee device on for me, carried my paperwork, helped me to the check out desk and with my crutches. He was actually the one who called me the next morning and apologized for the whole script thing and to let me know it was available to pick up. I have no idea what he's doing working for such a grump. If it's possible to see just Jay the P.A., I would definitely do that. He was great.
