We were anxiously awaiting this restaurant to open where Gabriellas used to be.
The food-4 out of 5 stars. The owner is from Sicily and the chef is from Venice. So I guess we can call it Italian fusion if fusion can be used as a replacement for over priced. Sauces are very good but for what you get it is not worth the price. The over priced food can possibly be the downfall of this place because I do not see many return visits for that reason.
Service-3 out of 5 stars. Our waiter was eager to please but had zero knowledge of what was available from the bar and I had to get up and walk to the bar to see what beers were available on tap.
Ambience-1 or 2 out of 5. Far from a quiet or possibly romantic place for a quiet dinner. High ceilings and kind of loud.
I normally like and get a good feeling when the owner is present, this place the exception. The owner Nico interrupted our dinner conversation twice and he comes off as a bit of an arrogant prick in skinny jeans. When he talks to you it feels like he is talking down to you and I don't think the employees respect him but they are certainly afraid of him which makes for a very uptight feeling amongst the staff. I think he would be better served staying in the kitchen and keeping things running smoothly from there and find a nicer restaurant rep for out front.
We will return but not often because of the prices.
