| - I haven't left a review in a few years. I guess there has not been much to talk about or recommend. Until now.
Rock of Ages deserves to be shared, talked about, and recommended. It's one of those shows that if I tell you that you should go when you are in Vegas and you still don't go, then I would think that there might be something wrong with you.
My husband and I went to Las Vegas (without the offspring) because he asked what I wanted to do for my 40th birthday. I knew that the only place that I wouldn't get the 'birthday blues' would be Vegas. So we went for a quick get-away for two nights.
I got tickets to Rock of Ages for August 23rd because, again, it was my birthday so it was my choice. Plus a friend from work said she went a couple of months ago and had a great time. What could go wrong with a show set to 80's rock music?!?
The set, the singing, and the music (live band) were amazing! The acting was perfect, especially the narrator and the German son - I can't remember the names, but they were hilarious. Actually, all of the cast was perfect. From start to finish, Rock of Ages had us laughing, singing, and having one of the best nights out - EVER!
I saw some reviews saying that the humor was too raunchy (more like for 13 year old boys) and the outfits were too skimpy -- um, it's Vegas. I can see us having a bad time too if we would have taken our kids! We would have spent the whole time trying to cover their eyes or explaining why they kept slapping the girls on the butt. If you go to this show, leave the kids at home! Although the humor wasn't raunchy to us, I can see how some parents would be shocked if they weren't expecting that kind of thing at this show.
So, because of this trip and Rock of Ages being so awesome (we have been together 15 years and this was our first trip to Vegas), we now plan to go back every six months or so. Not only to get away for a weekend - but to see another show. I don't know if we can find one to top Rock of Ages but we'll try! Any suggestions...?
