| - I purchased a Groupon for a "60-minute massage with consultation" to try out Peak Performance. I need to find a massage therapist for regular appointments and the price was right ($18) to give this location a shot. It was to expire on 4/11/16 and I talked to a representative on the morning of April 4 (9:11 a.m.) to schedule an appointment.
When I called, I learned that they only offer massages on certain days of the week and I had events booked on all of them until today (4/18). I scheduled my massage for their latest appointment - 5:45 p.m. - and was sure to ask if it was OK that the actual appointment was after the expiration date of the voucher. There didn't seem to be a problem since I called before the expiration date, and I added the appointment to my calendar (by which I live and die!).
Knowing that I wouldn't have time to hop the bus home to get my car before the massage, I drove downtown to work and paid to park. After fighting through rush hour traffic on 279 and McKnight Road, I arrived a few minutes early ... only to find out that I wasn't scheduled for an appointment today.
It's not that I made a scheduling mistake and showed up on the wrong day or at the incorrect time, I wasn't on their calendar ... at all. They offered to reschedule the appointment, but I don't have a free day on my calendar that matches their massage schedule (which decreases to Monday and Wednesday beginning in May) until mid-June.
Losing $18 doesn't upset me. Calling, making an appointment, arranging my normal routine, paying to park, driving through rush hour (a.m. and p.m.) and then not being on the schedule does, however. If you're new to the business, I would recommend calling in advance of your appointment to confirm you're on the schedule.
Note to the business ... Groupon or Living Social is almost always my first experience with a company. When my experience is good, it results in a conversion to me becoming a regular customer. While I know that isn't always the case with deal-redeeming patrons, please take this into consideration when scheduling your discount voucher clients.
