I called a few days ago to make an appointment. I mentioned to the man on the phone that I had purchased a groupon for a full color, cut and style.
I am new to Charlotte and thought purchasing the groupon would be a good way to discover a great hair stylist that I could see every 6 weeks.
When I arrived today at 1pm, the girl Jennifer came over to me and said she was running a bit late. She then asked me how was I going to pay. I told her I had a groupon and she said in a very snarky tone that she doesn't do those anymore! I told her I had mentioned it when I booked my appointment and she said there was a mistake.
She said she would be WILLING to do my hair anyways at her full prices.
It seemed like she was looking down on me because I had a groupon.
I didn't feel comfortable and felt like her attitude around groupons was unprofessional. I told her no thank you and left.
This was my only day off in 8 days. I am a very good tipper and would have been a regular client had I enjoyed the experience. Instead I was made to feel like a less than person because I bought a groupon.
I left this salon feeling very upset. Groupons are great ways to establish good clientele and yes I know that sometimes they attract a lot of cheapskates but this was not the case with me. I had even asked when I called in for my appointment what the price originally would be to get this service and made sure that I had enough cash in my purse to tip 25% -30% of the original price.
I am disgusted and I hope this salon owner speaks to her employees about how to treat people.
Do the math, one groupon would have equaled a cut and color every 6 weeks plus tip.
Hopefully I will find a stylist that appreciates and values new clients.
