  • Sending your child to school or day care for the first time is always very scary. We put our 2.5 year old one to La Petite Academy on Pecos in January, and I cannot say enough good things about this place. Ms. Sheryl, early pre-school teacher is absolutely amazing, as are all the other teachers. There is a very low turn over, so you get to know the teachers, as well as the teachers get to know ALL the kids in the school, not just the ones in their class. It is a very open concept (not your traditional room for every age), which is kind of nice, so the kids get to see and interact with the other ages on occasion. Of course infants are separate, but other than that, all the teachers can see into the other classes. Our little one used to be an uncontrollable tornado, but now has calmed down, sits at dinner, is fully potty trained at 2.5 years, and can recite the full twinkle little star song. Her language skills have skyrocketed, she remembers all the other kids, and every day says " cool school mommy". Even asks to go there on Saturdays. You get all the artwork the kids make, photos from the first day and beyond. You can call any time about anything. They call immediately if there is a problem (my daughter bumped her head) but they calmed her down, and everything was fine. Even though the lunches are pretty much what you'd expect, the are a little bit better that other places we looked at. There are the occasional chicken nuggets, but they also get chicken with mashed potatoes, ham, soups...lot of variety with veggies, fruit and milk every time. And the price is actually quite affordable. I am dreading my daughter graduating, because her teacher and this school is absolutely amazing!!!!!
