| - Wow, transported back in time!
We were in Inglewood taking a walk and came across this inviting shop with the door propped open. The owner was tinkering with his treasures that he obviously cared for so much.
We found out through conversation that the owner was born in Ottawa, like me!
I do not have a bad thing to say about this place. The Woody Woodpecker lunchbox in the front window had drawn me in further and further and you have to loop this store about 6 times to see everything! WOW, it is packed but not cluttered.
They had my collectible faves, Peyo rubber Smufs from back in the day!
Comic books from the 15 cent days, Archie books (I think I read them ALL when I was 12) police patches, old pink finger dial phones, pins of all kinds, jewellery, weebles, Nascar oldies, little army men and lots of postcards from the 50's. There is a box at the front of the store where everything in there is $1!
This started out as a Military store and then to stay in business, it had to expand to other things collectible. Rent is not cheap in Inglewood of course so I wish this nice man all the best in being able to stay open. We were in there for a good 45 minutes and no one had ventured in the whole time we were there despite beautiful weather for a walk.
The owner gets his items from people that bring them into him, he buys them and prices them the way he wants to, not based on the internet. Interesting.
I was so tempted to buy something but it would just go in the basement into a box with this rest of the items from my past.
I will keep checking this place out though and spreading the word about how cool this establishment is for that collector looking for the perfect find.
The place left dust all over my fingers that just added charm to this store. The smell is the comics brought me back to a happy place, a happy time.
The prices were terrific as well. My husband mentioned Storage Wars to the owner, I am not sure what they were talking about but the owner is old school and implied that that show was crap. HA! Gotta love it!
5 stars!
