I am truly confused by the poor reviews because Bartolotta was fantastic. The service was excellent, our reservation got us a table at exactly the promised time, and the food was excellent.
We did the Top Chef tasting menu. The grilled lobster tail, shrimp and langoustine were excellent, and the scallop with mushroom and parmesan cheese was one of the best scallops I've had. The pastas were terrific and unique, including handmade cheese ravioli and a shrimp risotto cooked with crustacean broth that gave it a unique flavor.
interestingly, the least remarkable dish was the main fish course which was a full sea bream for 6 people cooked in a salt crust and prepared for plating at our table.
The dessert sampling was incredible. Only complain is that the waiter came by and removed all the desserts including one that we hadn't yet tried because we were told to let it come to room temperature for a few minutes, and by the time we noticed, he had taken an untouched dessert that we were all waiting to try.
Update: The restaurant is now Costa di Mare, the menu is almost identical to when it was Bartolotta. Still excellent. Great service.
