| - After seeing my newsfeeds fill up with pictures of people at this place, I finally got around to checking Porco out myself.
When you arrive here, you think to yourself 'okay, what am I getting myself into'. There are no other bars around and I'm pretty sure that there is a junkyard neighboring it on one side. Luckily, when you walk in, you are transported to a miniature Polynesian paradise, complete with bamboo, totem poles, and of course, amazingly delicious exotic drinks.
We were a little overwhelmed by the drink list. I am typically a vodka drinker and when the bartender said 'you won't find that here', my heart sank a little bit. But my heart got a little lighter when we finally did order drinks and they were both pleasantly surprising. The only downside is that the menu doesn't tell you exactly what is in the drinks, so I'm really not sure what I was drinking (besides liquid awesomeness). We only got one drink each because two would have put us at a noticeable buzz and three would have led to a next-morning of bedrest, ibuprofen, and a pot of coffee. Those drinks were silently strong - you don't know just how much they are working on you until you've already ordered the next one! Prices for drinks were greater than average ($10-20 per drink), but keep in mind that these drinks have more alcohol in them than the average drink.
From the location description I got from others, I thought this place was going to be miles down West 25th away from the main strip and in a terrible neighborhood. Reality - it was a 5-10 minute walk to Lorain Ave, which was really convenient once we decided to move away from liquor and onto the beer scene.
I would recommend this place to anyone trying to find something different than your typical brewery or wine bar. They have a nice patio in the back as well, which could be good for a small group!
