I've been here 4 times, the first two without any incident. The third time, Griffey was fine and happy but got an ear infection. I was told that morkies frequently get them because of their floppy ears (it was his first.) I thought it could be a coincidence and I took him back yesterday.
Dropped him off at 8:45 and was told it'd be 2-3 hours. They confirmed my number and I left. I called them at 3pm to see if he was ready. They said they called and left a message. Nonexistent to me.
I was horrified to see that his eyeballs were extremely swollen and completely red shot. They charged me $47 for the service. I was in shock! They had to call the owner to see if I could get a refund. The groomer said that Griffey got stressed out when she tried to trim his nails and that it isn't uncommon. She said that his eyes were not initially that bad but had gotten worse throughout the afternoon.
Today I took him to the vet and the Dr. said this was the most extreme case that she had ever seen. It was not because of stress but she suspected that they had left a major irritant like shampoo or conditioner in his eyes for a long time. Possibly, the irritant was not fully washed out of his eyes the entire time. He was prescribed an eye ointment. I took my vet bill back to the groomers and they refunded me the $17 for the ointment.
The groomer was extremely apologetic but was trying to downplay his eyes.
