After being quoted with $29 fee to estimate what it would be to fix an issue with the toilet that my tenant was having, I've decided to shop around. However, a few minutes later a representative from "Yes! Air Conditioning & Plumbing" called me back with a proposal to go in and take a look / estimate it free of charge. I have agreed to it with a clear expectation and a promise from the company that someone would be calling me once in the condo and giving me the price and taking my permission over the phone.
Technician has never called me, never quoted a price and never asked (and never had) my permission to fix anything.
Next thing I know, my tenant paid $277 to fix a toilet (!) that I have not authorized (not over the phone, not through email, not in person) for it to be fixed; I never got a phone call, or was given a quote/price or asked if it was OK to fix it.
My tenant, after my inquiry about this issue, informed me that technician told her that he had my permission (not!) to fix it. After reaching out to "Assurance Manager", I was offered a $50 coupon to "resolve" this issue. The manager even acknowledged that no permission was given/received and the technician did not call and talked to me in regards to the quote or fixing a toilet. However, "well the job was already done and there is nothing else we can do".
