I had went to Dr. Igna because I received a flyer for a free teeth whitening. I thought for general work there wouldn't be much difference... boy was I wrong.... The exam was great, I did receive my teeth whitening kit as promised but it stops there.
The receptionist had me pay about $300 for my visit which would be reimbursed in a couple of weeks by my insurance. I thought it was weird they wouldn't collect, but I paid. When I came in two weeks later to pick up my whitening trays I inquired about the reimbursement. She now indicated that my insurance didn't cover everything and so i wouldn't be reimbursed. Is it weird that the $300 covered the cost of the teeth whitening... YES. Is it weird I paid $300 even though I had insurance for a simple cleaning for my daughter and myself.... YES.
Is it also weird that he recommended a gum treatment on all four quadrants which would cost $800 out of pocket and another $200 out of pocket for a filling....YES and let me tell you why.
After the reimbursement situation I started searching for a new Dentist. I found another great Dentist down the street who didn't see the need for the gum treatment and recommended two fillings, but my total out of pocket was only going to be $14.80....
I hope that $300 was worth losing a family of repeat customers....
