| - Literally couldn't be more thrilled with our experience with Marigold, from the time we first sat down to brainstorm about ideas, through menu planning (so innovative and creative!) to the night of our wedding reception at their onsite facility (August 2013). First: the food. The food! People are still talking to us about the extraordinary meal they had--not just the best of any wedding they'd been to, but excellent by top restaurant standards. Seriously. We set them the difficult task of creating an Asian/southern fusion meal (you wouldn't think it could be done, but Marigold did it!), with variety to enable the vegans and vegetarians to fully partake too. Every dish was amazing, and served elegantly and creatively. I found them more than willing to work within our budget, and to think about a variety of ways to achieve what we were looking for. We had a full cocktail hour with passed hors d'oeuvres, followed by a meal presented at several stations, an old-fashioned ice cream sundae bar for dessert, and then dancing: all in 3901 at Marigold. They handled each transition seamlessly, and I never had to think or worry about it during the day itself. Because beyond the delicious food, what really made Marigold stand apart is that we felt we were working with people who *genuinely* enjoy what they do--thinking through food, designing great parties, making it easy for people to just enjoy themselves. The party was honestly perfect.
I will also add that, as it happens, our wedding occurred during the same week that another major caterer was going out of business, having summarily fired dozens of workers and cancelled events around the city. We witnessed Marigold working around the clock to try to save many of these events, and also to hire as many of the other company's displaced workers as they could. From what I could perceive, they did something really great by the larger community. It could have been a very tumultuous time indeed, but they kept it "offstage," and at no point did their commitment to our wedding get sacrificed. So I not only have huge gratitude for Marigold helping create the reception of our dreams, but also for their ethical and community-minded business practices.
Marigold, I would give you 6 stars if I could! Thank you, thank you, for an amazing wedding reception, for your vision, your commitment to green and local food, your warmth, and for making our wedding reception just exactly what we hoped for!
