  • I usually don't like to go to Chinese restaurants inside fancy hotels, but since I was already staying here and I was feeling a bit under the weather with a bit of a throat problem (non-contagious!), I thought since all the other restaurants in the hotel had pretty rich and spicy dishes on their menus, that a simple bowl of fish congee or soup noodles would be perfect. I went for the seafood and dumpling egg noodle soup. Since they seemed to be displaying the noodle station at the front of window of the restaurant, I figured this must be one of their specialties. Oh boy. The soup was kind of tasteless, the noodles were ok, but a very small portion, the 2 shrimp and 2 scallop were large and fresh, but the dumpling......what the....?!?!? I think it was supposed to be some kind of wonton dumpling, but I took one bite and noticed a really dark stuffing in it....not sure what was inside, but it was cold! I was too hungry to complain and send it back, so I just left the dumplings til the end hoping that the warm (not hot) soup would warm it them up a bit. And this for $20+?! Yikes.....I guess if I had taken a cab to Chinatown for the same bowl of noodles, the cab fare, bowl of noodles, tax and tip would have likely come to the same amount. The quality definitely wasn't worth that much, but I guess the rent must be pretty high. I was thinking of going back at dinner time to try the fish congee, but then changed my mind after some thought. Ok, so it's probably a bit unfair to judge a restaurant based on a bowl of noodles....but then again, I don't think I want to press my luck a second time. If you're truly desperate for something to eat and can't think of any other decent place, then ok, it's probably edible quality. However, I would have preferred to take a cab to Chinatown....or even Panda Express across the road. The service wasn't bad, but pretty much typical of any Chinese restaurant. Nice decor though....I'll give them that. I had a bad experience staying at this hotel so I will likely not come back here again.
