| - Sante was a disappointment. I was told it was a "top facility." It is not. The superficials looks great. (Pretty colored walls and sweet decorations..).but the infrastructure in general is sub-par with a few exceptions.
My Mother was there for short term rehab. She was in a demented state and didn't remember what medications she was taking... whether she was sleeping or not, etc. During our all-day visits/shifts,a couple of key professionals walked in, without notification and started asking my Mother pivotal questions about her care protocols (meds, sleep patterns, etc.) ---without regard to the validity of her answers. On one particular day, a physician walked in and asked my Mother key medical questions - and each question was answered incorrectly. Fortunately, we were there and were able to interject and clarify. A physician, in charge of patient care should be aware if the patient is incapable of providing valid responses.A similar occurrence happened with a social worker, who asked my Mother many direct questions that she was incapable of answering... and was ready to believe and incorporate these responses into her assessment. So, if you put your parent in this facility, or anyone you love, make sure you are frequently present .... or coordinate appointments.
To make matters worse, while we were there, there was a sewer smell that permeated the entire facility and although we repeatedly complained, the problem was never really addressed. The smell was obscene. It's been a few months now, so I'm hoping that this problem has been rectified.
There are two positive things about Sante-- The rehabilitation staff without fail, is superb, caring and proactive. And some of the nurses were phenomenal-- while others were lackluster and unresponsive. Management needs to be aware that response time and attitude, across the board, should be consistent.
