| - If you want a nice wedding in Vegas that isn't cheesy or pricey...
Then I HIGHLY suggest you try Sunset Gardens (www.sunsetgardens.com)!!! After checking out a bunch of Vegas places and seeing the amount they were gonna charge for every little piece of the wedding, we were getting pretty down that we weren't gonna be able to afford the wedding unless we went through a little drive thru place or something. But my fiancé and I found Sunset and ended up having our wedding here and we were NOT disappointed!!
Everything was organized and pretty much taken care of for us. The food was great, the decorations were beautiful, and the fact that everything is included in the packages they have (including a fully OPEN BAR) were all just some of the great things about Sunset. They have beautiful twinkle lights outside which made for a great back drop, I can't wait to get my pictures back from this past weekend!! The staff that were onsite the day of the wedding were very accommodating and helped us be sure that everything was just right. Sharon was very patient and accommodating when planning and doing the rehearsal with us. She really made me feel comfortable and I knew that I could trust that things would go right. And that's hard for a planning person like me!! Tony was there the entire night and kept coming by to be sure that everything was OK and that we ate (it really was something I didn't think they would have to tell us, but we needed it!).
Having all the necessities for wedding planning in the same center was great too! I got my nails, hair, & make-up done right there at Joleon's, the flowers next door at Petals, and my dress pressed at Bowtie (they charged me $60 and had it hanging in the bridal suite on the wedding day for me) - not to mention I found GREAT shoes that I had been looking for unsuccessfully for 2 months and they were on sale for $20!!!
We got a group rate at the Courtyard Marriott less then 1 mile from Sunset, they hooked us up with a great bridal suite at the same discounted rate, and they even shuttled all the guests from the Marriott to Sunset on the wedding day for free!!! And if you're pasty white like me, I would suggest you check out Bronzed (across the street from the Hard Rock Hotel) to get spray tanned for $45. We did it the day before and I think it REALLY made a difference!! And if you're honeymoon is right after the wedding, you'll already be tanned!
Since we could only extend the reception until about 9:30pm, we had a bunch of folks from out of town, and we were in VEGAS, we decided to do an after party. We went with the Eyecandy Lounge @ Mandalay Bay. It was perfect since it wasn't that far from Sunset, there was no cover charge to get in, it was right in the middle of the casino so some of the guys could go & gamble while the gals shook their booties, and the music mix was pretty good!
The one thing I would say, however, is if there are specific songs that you would like to hear during your ceremony/reception, just bring a CD with those songs on it. My fiancé is Mexican and the DJ (and yes, he's really bad at calling you back but mainly because I think he has been doing it so long that he doesn't really need to talk to you until a week or two out) didn't have the genre of music that we preferred to listen to. I had emailed him a song list of ALL the songs we wanted to hear and I think we might have heard like 10 of them and that's it. My burner wouldn't work at the last minute so I couldn't bring a CD with my songs on it but the important songs he had (like our first dance and the father/daughter song) and the Latin music he did have got our guests up & dancing - it became a dance off too:) But I missed hearing a lot of great songs I specifically picked out. If you're the same way, bring a CD so you don't have to worry about not hearing them.
But it was an awesome time! All my guests enjoyed themselves and can't stop talking about how great it was! Even 2 couples that recently got married told us we totally out did them and we didn't even pay that much!!! Thanks Sunset!!!
