| - I started going to this location for service shortly after we moved into the area with my Rav 4. I generally avoid dealerships for service, but needed some recall stuff done. I found the place to be clean, and the service staff nice and accommodating.
I returned with my Rav a couple of more times, and then with an old Prius my daughter had been using and returned to us, and again with my husband's Matrix. Somewhere along the line I sold the Rav to CarMax, and the Prius became my primary vehicle. It's kind of a junker, but still starts when you push the button - as long as you hold it down long enough, and the weather isn't too cold. We had great experiences for the most part - my husband's only complaint was an overly long wait, and mine that a service manager clearly failed to listen to my attempts to explain my very old Prius' electrical quirks that cause the battery to drain or the dashboard to not light up (but the car would still run)...she just knew much more than silly old me, and that went up my butt, and she was quickly replaced by a different service manager. She needs to learn to listen - or maybe she needs a different job. Anyway, the situation was resolved, and I move on.
Then I got a call one day from sales saying they were "looking for a vehicle like mine", claiming that someone was looking for a used Prius for a young family member. Now maybe that is the oldest trick in the book, but seriously, the thing had 186,000 miles on it, and bears the scars of a couple of years in Boston and two cross-country trips hauling a U-Haul trailer, so really if someone wants to take it off my hands, and the price is right and the deal works, well, who am I to complain about the method? The thing is a rat-trap of a vehicle, frankly, and I know darn well NO ONE wants that car!!
I walked in the door with NO intention of selling the car or buying a new one. The old car was worthless, and I knew that - yes, it's a Prius, but even a Prius can be driven into the ground by the streets of Boston and crazy former owners who used her like a moving van from CO to MA. I suspect it is barely even a parts car. Did I want a new car? Of course, who doesn't? But I really didn't think that Toyota or North Charlotte could make this work.
I let Gary show me new cars, and I drove a 2016 Prius 2 Eco. We sort of fell in love. Me and the Eco, not me and Gary, although I liked him too. Then I sat down with Brian, and we talked numbers, and sure enough it just wasn't going to work for me. After some back and forth, suddenly we were at an agreement. Next I got to sit down with David Watts and sign a lot of paperwork. I walked out an hour or so later, and sat down in the driver's seat of my very reasonably priced 2016 Prius 2 Eco. Her name is Hazel. We are still in love, 200 miles later. I think it's going to be a long-term relationship, both with Hazel and Toyota of North Charlotte.
