Thank God for locals! I would never have found this little gem if not for my cousin who resides in Phoenix. I was craving authentic Mexican - not the tex-mex tourist stuff found everywhere down here. We decided to go for breakfast and I loved the fact that it's located in a working-class area.
As we sat down we were greeted by the hostess with chips and salsa. I ordered my horchata (cinnamon rice milk) and the huevos rancheros. The dish came with a side of refried beans, potatoes and a large flour tortilla. The salsa that was served with the chips was great -it had a sweet tinge to it. As my dish came out, my jaw hit the table in awe of the enormity of it all. For 5.99 I was expecting a meal that would barely cover the plate.
The meal was served piping hot and you could tell the server brought it out as soon as it was up. The eggs and salsa were delicious. The tortilla was perfectly soft and the beans were awesome. This was the best breakfast I've ever had anywhere. I'm jealous of people that reside in Phoenix and have the option to come out here to eat. I liked it so much I came back again the next day. I tried the machaca (pounded beef) con huevos and it was deliciously spicy. Warm, friendly service, excellent food at low prices served in a very nice establishment. It doesn't get better than this.
