We are very blessed in this city to have so many venues for performing arts. Heinz Hall is just one of them. It is in downtown in the cultural district. From the outside it looks like a pretty typical building and the marquee is the icing on it. It almost beckons you to come in and see what's happening. Inside the Hall is pure beauty. The venue has the original design and decor. There are the heavy luxurious fabrics that make up the draped curtains and the grand curtain on stage. Each piece of lighting is like a piece of artwork. Each piece shines brightly. The swelling stairways allow people to flow in and out of each floor all of the way down to the main floor. Their are several bars that also have small tables to have a drink before the show or during an intermission. They sell a special glass that can be carried inside the concert seating area. It is good for a whole season. The bathrooms have been updated and are brightly lit. They have bathrooms on each floor which is very nice. One or two are a bit hidden so you might have to ask an usher or bartender. Inside the concert area the chairs are done in a deep red fabric which plays nicely off the gold gilding in the room. You almost feel as if you have stepped back into time. It is just so grand. The ushers are very helpful and will assist you to your seat if you need help. I have been to this venue for several performances and have never been disappointed.
