The World's Biggest Bookstore is about to closer, and be replaced by restaurants. It's the end of an era - and the four stars is for what it was from start to finish.
I first came here with my grandfather when the only other bookstores were the 1000sqft Cole's inside malls. This place had everything - not just the best sellers, but rare books that you couldn't find anywhere (and because Amazon didn't exist, there was just no way to grab them, aside from trolling University book stores and hoping for the best.)
It still carries more than any other place you're likely to find in Toronto.
Though it's not quite the Powell's it could have been - it's a place steeped in history, and it will be missed.
