| - On Thursday, September 29; I celebrated National Coffee Day in Coffee Hunter. Coffee Hunter is so new that nobody celebrated National Coffee Day there in 2015. This past Spring, they opened in a pad at the Walmart Neighborhood Market Shopping Center at the southwest corner of the crossroads of Eastern at Warm Springs.
Through word of mouth and a first-rate coffee shop, Coffee Hunter is prospering in a challenging location. The shop itself is impossible to see from Eastern Avenue. When you are driving southbound on Eastern Avenue it is difficult to see the pad at the last entrance to the shopping center. To aggrevate the hidden location, for the last several months the intersection of Eastern and Warm Springs was a cone zone that created an automobile war zone causing monumental backups. These traffic backups, caused me to avoid the area and ultimately visit Coffee Hunter far less than I wanted to. That was a shame because Coffee Hunter serves a fantastic product with commendable service.
When I walk inside Coffee Hunter, I step into an inviting space. It doesn't have the theming and decorations that Bad Owl and Grouchy John's have. It has a large coffee bar to the right that includes bar stools, coffee making station, and pastries case. There are a handful of tables with a large Commons table at the back. This is an inviting place to study, read, and chillax. To the left of the tables the wall is decorated with works of art for sale. The true art of Coffee Hunter is to the right of the counter. The batistas are the coffee artists that bring coffee making to the level of a caffeine mixologists.
The main ingredient the coffee artists use to create the works of art that are unique caffeineated beverages is Stumptown Coffee. Stumptown Coffee is an Oregon import that is difficult to find in Vegas. The only other place that I know that serves Stumptown in Vegas is LA Cafe in Paris. Being true to their Oregon roots, Stumptown also serves Tillamook ice cream from Oregon. Using Stumptown coffee as the base of their palette of caffeineated works of art, in front of the customers eyes the batistas create unique drinks. They include caffeine shots served in a waffle cup, nitro brews, honey lavender lates, peanut butter cup lates, cafe Americanos, pour over coffee, and caffeineated concoctions with Tillamook ice cream. A survey through Yelp's impressive library of pictures and mini videos is a tour of the Coffee Hunters talents creating unique caffeineated marvels. In addition to the drinks, they serve pastries.
At Coffee Hunter, the batistas are also baristatainers. The same amount of attention that they give to creating the drinks, they give to their customer. I give a shout out to Hailey who is one of the most personable batistas that has served me coffee. She took the time to get to know me and through her attention to detail she remembered me as the dude with the Boston accent. Hailey also presented me with a Coffee Hunter card where you buy 10 drinks the eleventh is on them. In addition to Hailey, the staff is personable to the point that Coffee Hunter could use the chime, "Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name."
Coffee Hunter is the latest coffee shop to join the growing Las Vegas valley coffee scene. With first-rate coffee shops that include Coffee Hunter, my best advice is to say goodbye to the Keurig machine and say hi to the coffee shop. As sure as there will be a sunny day in Vegas, there will be another visit to Coffee Hunter.
