Our situation looked bleak. After 12 years our laminate floor was in need of major repair. The T moulding borders were cracked and ripped up in many places. In our kitchen the laminate had obvious damage in some areas and separation in others from our kitchen table and chairs. To make matters worse, we found out that the brand of laminate used was discontinued a long time ago!
We had a box and a half of laminate in our garage but no extra T moulding. Other companies told us that our laminate was warped and useless and tried to pressure us to replace all our laminate throughout the house.
When Doug and Michael came to visit they said there was a good chance the laminate we had could work. We just had to move it from the garage to inside the house so it could acclimate to the right temperature and humidity. They also borrowed a piece of our laminate to find a good match for the T moulding borders. We had a setback when we realized we needed 2 inch width borders instead of the standard 1 1/2 inches. They did research and were able to special order border pieces that were the right size and an almost exact match for our laminate!
The installers were nice and professional. I was nervous because they had to take apart the whole kitchen including the baseboards and put it back together. I was thinking of all the things that could go wrong but it turned out perfectly!!! Our next step is to buy a large rug for the kitchen table and chairs to prevent any scratching or separating of the laminate. They did an amazing job and I strongly recommend them to anyone looking for a new floor project or to repair an existing one.
