| - If you've got to get roped into going to an off-track betting establishment, you better have friends that will take care of you. And if your friends enjoy the taste of beer and don't take winning or losing that seriously, that's a fantastic added bonus. The first time I went to the Greenwood Teletheatre, a Champions OTB, I had all of that in spades (probably not the best gambling metaphor as we're talking about horses here, but you get the gist).
The place is expansive with TVs feeding in races from all over North America. You're able to sit in the large seating area and wait for your races to run, or find little nooks and crannies tucked away from the masses and close to one of the many betting machines that abound inside the building. I prefer the nooks that are tucked away, particularly the one near the side bar where I discovered they know my friend on a first-name basis. That and his betting successes that night showed that he's done this for a while. My success shows that this was my first time. But, suffice to say, I'll be back. There's nothing more fun than winning (or in my case, losing) a few bucks with your buddies over a few beers. Hey, some guys even bring their woman-folk to the fun. They're the one's doing most of the screaming it turns out.
