| - Get my go kart running, head out on the race track, looking for adventure or whatever comes my way!
When the weather outside is crap and you're thinking, "Man, I just wish there was an indoor go kart place in Calgary!" remember that there is. It's called Speeders and it's up on Aero Drive.
Oh, and it's fun!
Some things to be aware of:
1) You must buy a year's membership. It's just under $20.
2) If it's your birthday month, you get one free race.
3) If you've never been there before, sign up on the computers to the left first, then go stand in line on the right.
4) If you have a group bigger than 10 people, they can't guarantee you'll all get to race at the same time, but they'll try their best if it's not overly busy.
5) Don't come drunk. They won't let you drive.
6) One race lasts 14 laps. Be douchey and expected to get kicked off the course with no refund.
7) Bring ID. You need it.
8) Head socks. Yep. You wear them inside the helmets provided. Although they look at feel weird... it's comforting there aren't 4000 unsocked heads that have entered the helmet you're about to put on your head!
9) You can only sign up for one race at a time. If it's busy, it can be a long wait between races. There is AC/DC pinball to help keep you occupied.
10) The track doesn't look all that big when you first walk in, but it's similar in size to other go kart tracks in down!
11) You get a print out at the end that tells you what your fastest lap was and what your standing was with the other 11 cars on the track with you.
12) The karts are all controlled... so, if they need y'all to slow down, you slow down. Seriously, like all at once you just can't go any faster no matter how hard you push the gas.
Ready? Let's roll!
