| - If I could give negative stars, I would. My husband and I have had a few car buying experiences and this has by far, been the WORST. We worked with an evening "manager" who was a pompous jerk. My husband is active duty military and we are residents of a state that does not charge any sales tax. Legally (and this was confirmed with the NV DMV) they cannot charge us sales tax on a vehicle (almost $4k). They were not willing to listen to us regarding the taxes issue and were not willing to back down. The "manager" also mentioned that he had dealt with tax situations identical to ours multiple times before and "the military members lost that argument every time". Essentially he admitted to illegally taking money for state sales tax from military members. He interrupted us multiple times, wouldn't let us calmly explain our side, and wasn't willing to listen to an employee from the DMV confirm that we legally cannot pay state sales tax in NV.
Not only did they treat a military service member poorly, but the offers he compiled for our trade-ins were insulting. We came prepared with the Kelley Blue Book trade-in prices for each of our cars printed out for our personal reference. When he approached us with the original offers, he told us that they were "Kelley Blue Book prices", but they were $6,000 less than the bottom of the KBB trade-in range for a car in poor condition (our trade-ins were in "very good" condition as admitted by the "manager"). We called him out on the fact that the offers he brought us were not KBB, stating that we had those rates in front of us and he was a long ways off. He immediately got defensive and told us that "In all the years I've ever dealt with cars, only a handful were bought at KBB prices, and dealerships don't actually use KBB". Funny since they have a superior rating from KBB and enjoy displaying the big signs for KBB all over their dealership.
We then went to another GMC dealership to see if perhaps they could get the specific truck we wanted from AutoNation and we would just work with them, but AutoNation GMC would not release the truck to the other dealership stating that they were "working a serious sale on it". The next day, AutoNation GMC called us wondering if we were still interested in buying that exact truck. Guess that sale they were working on (if real) didn't go as they planned.
