I want to first say that this post is not to hinder the work that can be provided by Capital Cartage. The experience that my family and I had was unbelievably unbearable! Initially Mary the owner was pleasant and willing to help my family and I as we were in the process of moving.
During the first day that my wife took our belongings to CC I received a phone call from Mary the owner and she was upset it seemed with me that the movers who were from Gorilla Movers didn't wrap or protect things the way she felt they should have been. Well Mary, Gorilla Movers did an amazing job of packing and loading the truck. So the bashing you did was very unprofessional and disrespectful to fellow Movers and their company.
During my second phone conversation I was told that the cost for my belongings to be at CC would be $1120.75 which just blow my mind!!! I'm still a little concerned that the cost of what I had to pay does not make sense to me, but anyways Mary Proceeded to say to me you help run a school district you know how this business things works. At that point I was once again blown away and had kindly stated to Mary that I'm not being an asshole to you so please don't be an asshole to me. Then she got defensive and started attacking Gorilla Movers and now PODS which both have been very helpful and awesome to work with. I informed Mary that I would be coming the next day to pick up my belongings and she said we are closed tomorrow so I said how about Monday, Mary stated that I will have to look at the calendar to schedule you to pick up your belongings and I have to make sure there is a mover that can be here for $125.00 an hour which was fine! Mary was not flexible to assist me with a moving date of Monday and said that Wednesday is the day that I had to get my things.
I arrive on Wednesday and I finally meet Mary face to face. I introduce myself and I share with mary that I pride myself in having positive relationships with people. There are times that the reality of relationships need to be shared and discussed. In this case I just shared that the phone conversations seemed to be a little off. Mary says thanks for the apology. I said I'm not apologizing I never said anything thing rude or disrespectful to you on the phone. Needless to say she never apologized. I proceeded to pay. I asked if they take checks she said no! And said I told you to bring cash. I said where am I suppose to get $900.00 on the 4th of July which was the day before. So I ask do you take credit cards? Yes and there is a 4.5% finance charge. I shared with Mary that I would not be paying the finance charge and that I could run to the bank around 9am when it opens. Mary said I and I quote "I have been dooped by people like you before" we as a black man there is only one way to take that so I say to Mary "I'm going to tell you what I just heard, that you have been dooped by black people before so I'm going to take this out on you." Mary Reply's with "don't you try that with me, you work in schools and that's how you talk? I have a lot of black people that work for me and they are my favorites." Wow!!!! Blow my mind once again. So I walked out counted to 10 and came back in and said here is the deal. Here is my wallet you can hold on to it until the bank opens at 9:00 then I will go get your money. She said I will run the credit card for a 1.5 finance charge our cost. I said I will not pay a finance charge! Then she brings a young lady in to run the credit card for no charge!
I share this story once again not to take business away but to share my experience with CC and how Mary was Rude, racist, and very unprofessional. There is not one thing that I have shared that is shared out of context or blown up! To the "T" this is what happen!! I still to this second believe I was over charged, but I just wanted out and my belongings!!!!
