| - Alternative Fitness Pilates is in a fantastic location in Cotswold and is less than a mile from my house, so I was super excited to give their 6:30pm Barsculpt class a try last Wednesday! Just in case you aren't super familiar with the area, the studio is located in the building that is next door to Koishi (one of my favorite sushi places in CLT) and across Sharon Amity from Krispy Kreme.
I arrived to the studio a few minutes early to complete my paperwork, the staff were all extremely friendly and gave me a quick tour of the pilates studios prior to the Barsculpt class beginning. I was overwhelmed with how quiet and relatively dark the workout spaces were.
I'm used to taking barre-type classes in very well lit studios with floor to ceiling mirrors, energizing music, and several class participants. For more than half of the class, I was the only participant -Diana, the instructor was very nice and patient with me but I honestly didn't like being the only person in the class. The music was very quiet, and there were three tiny mirrors that made it very difficult for me to tell if I was in the correct postures. The general ambiance of the class made it hard for me to get pumped up.
If you like lots of noise, and feed off the energy of having several other class participants, Alternative Fitness Pilates may not fit your needs. However, if you prefer a more intimate and quiet setting to workout, I highly recommend Alternative Fitness Pilates Barsculpt class.
