What was once a small neighborhood fitness center (Pure Fitness) with great energy and a positive vibe has turned into a sad, heartless, dysfunctional gym that not even a recent and pathetic attempt at a makeover could improve. The gym was closed down for over a week so that new floors could be installed, posters hung, and floor space taken away for a "personal training area" that often sits vacant.
Half the treadmills aren't level on the new floor so they wobble obnoxiously under a mild jog and machines are frequently out of service. Hardly anyone re-racks their weights anymore, dumbbells are put back randomly and out of order and the overall vibe of the place is extremely poor (I'm sure those phenomena are in some way linked). Many of the front desk staff can hardly be bothered to look up from their computer or cell phones as you enter or exit.
I only work out here because it's close to my house and I was grandfathered in at my (much more reasonable) Pure Fitness membership rate. Once again a giant corporation has ruined a lovely small business that was good for the community.
