| - Had a great meal last night at Cure. My wife has been wanting to go there for some time now, and she went last weekend with a dear friend and then called me that she made reservations for us when I returned to town. The restaurant has a great look and feel...definitely feels like a hunting lodge, but with a nice energy level. The servers exuded that same energy, high level of finesse and knowledge, and treated everyone like a first class passenger. Our server, Madeleine, gets top marks for just the right level of engagement with us, attention to detail, knowledge of the menu and the chef's style. My wife and I really liked the insights she shared about the restaurant which she had gleaned from working there about 4 years.
We started with the roasted oysters...I'm not a huge fan of oysters, but this preparation avoided the excessive brininess and it incorporated bacon, so of course I loved it. The salumi platter is a "must-get" every time I eat here (and I will be putting this restaurant in our regular lineup). The variety of cured meats and pâtes on the platter were outstanding and served at the correct temperature and thickness...again, really excellent attention to detail. For our main dishes we wanted to try the pastas; my wife had the Orecchiette, and I had the Ricotta Cavatelli. Both were very enjoyable, but the Ricotta Cavatelli was off the charts great...the right balance of heirloom tomatoes, cheeses, and olive oil with a perfectly chewy pasta makes this one of the most memorable pasta dishes I've had in some time.
We skipped dessert to enjoy some after dinner drinks. It's not often I see a Pedro Ximenez sherry on a list and it was delicious.
Bravo to the staff at Cure for a great meal (first for me, second for my wife) and outstanding service by the entire team, particularly Madeleine.
