I have being taking my small dog to Family Vetcare for about 7 years. Overtime I have become leery due to the staff constantly pushing services that I questioned my dog needs and are expensive. Only two years after my small dog had his teeth cleaned, for about $400, the doctor told me he needed another cleaning. I knew his teeth were fine for a friend, a former vet tech, had checked them for me. The doctor was very pushy about me having my dog's teeth cleaned and how I would be impeding my dog's health if I didn't have it done, I finally told her that I was unemployed and could't afford such a service a this time. That shut the doctor up. Curiously though, since she had said my dog's health could be affected by not having a cleaning, she didn't offer another option like a payment plan. The last straw was when I asked how much it would cost to have my dog's nails clipped which I usually have done at a local groomer's for $8. I was told it could be done by a tech for $18. For as long as I had been bringing my dog to Family Vetcare, one would have thought it would have been cheaper if not for free. I'm moving on because I need to find a vet who is not a salesman and not motivated to care for animals for how much money they can make from a client.
