Last week, my daughters dog was brought in because he hadn't been eating and every time he drank water, he was throwing up. She wasn't able to get into his normal vet so she brought him to the ER as she was scared and nervous. The ER mentioned during initial examination that he had a bad tooth but moved on as if it wasn't a factor. Long story short, after X-rays, an ultrasound and even a suggestion of leaving him overnight and over $1200 later, no diagnoses. Issues with his colon and even the word "surgery" was mentioned. We left the hospital with absolutely nothing but lighter pockets, directions on what to feed him (his refusal to eat is what started this) and instructions to follow up with his vet.
Within 3 minutes, his vet was able to diagnose and have him on the road to recovery. HIS BAD TOOTH. His tooth was pulled and he was put on an antibiotic and was good as new the very next day.
We feel completely robbed by this hospital. Leading us to believe there was something major wrong and needing hundreds of dollars worth of X-rays, a $550 ultrasound, etc when it was in fact the tooth they had noticed and didn't even bother with an antibiotic.
We will definitely take the extra couple minutes to drive somewhere else if an emergency vet is ever needed in the future.
