It's one of my family traditions to go see the lights every year. Unfortunately, I forgot how crazy the weekends can be and paid for it this time! Went around 7:30pm on a Saturday evening - it took 1 hour and 10 minutes to get to the part of the line where you pay your $30 admission. Then it took another 55 minutes from that point to get to the Boy Scouts station where you can buy Hot Chocolate, Water, and Kettle Corn. Then another few minutes before they release you to start the tour. Unfortunately, by the time we made it through the line - the kids with us all fell asleep and couldn't wake up - so between the drive there, the 2 hours in line, and the 30 minutes it took to drive through the lights, the kids never got to see the lights this year. By the time we finished, there was still a line to get in (I wanted to tell them they were still 1.50 hours away from getting in; and also let them know they officially closed for the night 10 minutes before we finished).
While in line there was a $50 VIP Option to bypass the line. In retrospect, this would've been worth bypassing the 2 hour line!
For those who have never gone - it's a wonderful mix of lighting displays spread all around the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. You drive through the area following other cars with your headlights off.
