***One start is way too generous**
I fly in to Las Vegas a few times a month for business and normally have used another rental agency. I decided to try Budget since air miles were offered with the booking. I arrived at the location and although there were a few people in front of me, Budget had several staff members to assist at the counter. I waited about 10 minutes and when it was my turn, the staff member's first comment was on the condition of my driver's license (it's over 10 years old and showing wear). He continued to comment on it for about 5 minutes and eventually proceeded with my reservation. When asked if I wanted the additional insurance for another $20 (or so) a day, he was insistent I accept even after I refused. I had to tell him no other rental company had been so determined to provide it in my previous experiences. He eventually stopped asking then continued to tell me I had to return the car with a full tank of gas along with proof of my gas receipt. He found the need to repeat this info several times as if the only way he knew I would fill up the tank is if he did if for me. When I provided my credit card, I was told Budget holds a $200 deposit on the card for use. I was not aware such a high amount would be required and decided to cancel the current reservation and try another rental company.
From the very beginning of setting the reservation, I had a feeling this staff member was not going to be pleasant to work with and turned out I was right. Budget does a great job to make their staff as annoying and condescending as possible. The staff member's actions and Budget's policies have earned a them a dedicated "non customer".
As with the other reviewers, my experience with another rental company that day was easy and headache free.
