  • A few times a year over the last 4 or so years I attend group celebrations at the W. We get a table with bottle service spend a small fortune, listen to music, dance, get rooms for the night and a great time is had by all. Until last night. Last night I had an experience with the staff that was like something out of the Twilight Zone. It was late in the evening and we all had been dancing. I took my heels off to give my feet a break. Still sans shoes, a friend and I went outside to ensure one of our group members got into an Uber safe and sound. We went out the door at the back of the bar, not the main entrance. Once Uber picked up our friend we turned to go back in the same door and a bouncer told us no we had to go through the front. We went to the main entrance and my male friend is let in immediately. I am told I can't go in with no shoes on. I explain that I had been inside all night and that my shoes were at our table and I had just come out to see a friend off. The bouncer/security still says no. I state again ...been here all night, shoes at table blah blah blah. He asks if I'm staying at the hotel. Aha! Yes I say, I am. He says he will let me in if I show my room key. Ok done. I head back to the table and sit down. Minor bump, but I'm still smiling for about 2.2 seconds. I am descended upon by a very tall intimidating bouncer/security person/ bar employee (not sure of the actual position). I am told I need to put my shoes on. Ok, I'm seated, not bothering anyone and there are other people in the bar with shoes kicked off. 2 at my table! They are not targeted. (I know your thinking it must be my feet, but I swear, they're pedicured and ok to show in public :)) I am seated in low seating and he is looming over me measuring at least 6ft +. He is standing in the path I need to take to get to my shoes so I ask him to move so I can get my shoes and suggest, we are ok, I will put the shoes on and go on with my night. He keeps standing there and I am now feeling intimidated and uncomfortable and ask for the manger, who surprise surprise, is also standing right near our table. She approaches me and begins telling me I am rude and she wanted me to put my shoes on. I was in the process as she was speaking. This was for my own safety she repeated about 10 times. The shoes are on and they are both still at my table berating me. I was now defensive but in no way aggressive, or threatening, or trouble. The manager then told me I needed to go to my room. Any other time I would have taken a stand against this, but it was late and I was tired so I simply said ok to end this lunacy, and she kept talking and questioning/lecturing me. Now I'm wondering how this is even happening. They are looking for issues. We have some back and forth, still no yelling, no aggression on my part and there is now three staff members involved. The manager flat out lies and says I called her a name. I NEVER did. Plenty of people sitting around me can attest to this. She now tells me I have to leave the hotel and I can not go to my room to pack my stuff. I am out front trying to reach my roomie by phone to pack up my stuff. There are now 4 employees outside telling me to leave and that I can't wait for my belongings. I am not engaging or challenging them. I was being bullied and intimidated by alleged hospitality employees, and now I'm worried for my safety. My car is here with valet, I call a friend to come drive me and my car home, he's on the way! I'm still trying to absorb what is happening. I finally reach my roomie and she is heading to the room to pack my stuff. They send security with her! It is her room. I mention to her on the phone I'm just going to get my car and go so they can stay w/out issue. Security guy is listening and starts yelling at me about driving and that he can smell alcohol on me. This was all just unbelievable, I'm literally shocked and speechless. After I tell him he is making assumptions and ask him how he could possibly know my intentions he tells me they are now refusing to release my car to me. My car, that I never intended to drive. I now can't stay here, can't have my own vehicle released. I finally ask Security guy what he expects me to do given the current situation they put me in over bare feet. He calls the police! Officers arrive, I ask them what it is I'm doing that warrants calling the police. He tells me that for tonight, I am trespassing but tomorrow I can just come back and get my car no problem. My friends have called an Uber during all of this and it arrives. The police leave, while I am still there. Obviously I am not a problem. I get my stuff and leave for a 40 mile Uber ride. I now have to go deal with them again to pick up my car. After reading other "not recommended" reviews it seems like this is not a rare occurrence for this staff. I can't believe they get away with this bullying of customers. I have reached out to the GM.
