Leaving only three stars for this for gorgeous venue saddens me. I take pride in being a member of the Yelp Elite community, but feel that honesty is the best policy.
I arrived a little late, just in time to hear the manager (I believe) give a short intro. I then waited a very long time at the bar before being approached for my order. During that time a couple of appetizers were being offered. The chickpea fricasse was my favorite followed by the pork / pesto on toast (not sure of the correct name). A tuna toast point and some sort of dumpling were also offered.
I sampled the house made sangria, which was delicious, and a refreshingly tart pineapple daiquiri. I then had the opportunity to mingle a bit and order the French onion soup from the menu - which was gorgeously presented but fell flat in the flavor department. It was sweet but missing that savory element that makes great French onion soup.
I would like to think that this was just a case of being under staffed and that a second trip would turn out differently. The space is brilliant - bright, modern and clean with a gorgeous view of the surrounding buildings.
Our Yelp community leaders did a wonderful job organizing this event - I feel terrible it did not leave many of the attendees with a positive experience. I'm hoping the owners, managers and staff take this as a way to make some small changes to better serve their guests - because this place could really be a crowd favorite!
