Bethke installed baseboard hot water heat in one room a few years ago. Did a decent job with the plumbing, but installer was sloppy. Left debris on the ground after drilling through a concrete wall. Made a mess of the baseboards. The heat stopped working at the start of the third winter. The owner said he would send someone out to look at it for $100. That's just to look at it. I figured out on my own that it was a bad zone valve actuator. When I told him that he said he would fix it for $286. Fixed it myself with a $50 part. Before this heating problem arose, I had 6 contractors bid a Mitsubishi ductless mini split heat pump. Bethke's quote was the most expensive by far, twice the cost of the lowest bid for the same work.
