| - We booked a reservation on their website for a suite and received a confirmation via email. Upon check in we were told that there was a computer error and our reservation did not exist- red flag #1. Luckily, we presented the email confirmation and were able to get a room... Not a suite (that we paid for) but a standard room- at the same price as the suite. That was red flag #2.
We get up to our room and attempt to settle in and get ready for our stay. My bf tries to take a shower but the temperature control valve just spins around and doesn't allow for any real control. So after 10 minutes of freezing cold water spraying all over the tiny bathroom, we finally figure out how to turn it off and start over. We get some hot water and the shower is underway. Great!
While he showers I try to grab some ice, but apparently there aren't any ice machines on the hotel room floors (we're on the 5th floor). A friendly member of the housekeeping crew tells me I have to either go out to the pool, or down to the bar for ice! Not a big deal, but she sees my surprised expression and offers to get some for us on her way down- this was the only nice thing anyone on this staff did for us. I try to charge my phone while I wait but there are no outlets near the bed. Odd for a hotel!
So we've got ice, he's showered and attempting to get ready; only the hairdryer is temperamental and essentially useless. I tried to call down to the front desk for another one but there are no phones in the room (red flag #3)! What kind of hospitality establishment leaves no way for its patrons to reach them except to descend 5 floors, walk through the bar, out to the patio, around the pool to the front desk??? This one.
Forget drying his hair, we'll wait it out. I try to close the blinds (since there are no drapes/curtains/shades) but the last 2 panels are broken off and I can already imagine how pleasant the bright neon lights will be while we're trying to sleep later.
We decided we weren't going to let this god forsaken hotel room ruin our night, so we venture out for a few hours.
We went to grab dinner at the restaurant downstairs called Fiddlesticks. I don't know if they're attached in any other way besides location, but his place added to our already lackluster experience.
I ordered a steak salad, medium with avocado added.
After waiting 15-20 minutes for our order it arrives rare. Not a little rare... cold and raw in the center. The waitress politely apologized and said she would be right back. The guy that originally took our order comes to the table and apologizes saying he just got back from a break. He takes one look at my steak and agrees to have it remade. My bf is already half way finished with his meal, so I wait. Another 20 minutes pass and our guys cruises by our table and asks if we'd like to take it to go. Yes sir, we will be taking it to go. Thanks.
Back up to the room we go and it's my turn to shower before heading out to our evening show. It's about 10:30pm by this time since dinner was such a long event and we're looking to get ready as quickly as possible so we can make it across the street for our 11pm start time.
The shower isn't turning on. It actually isn't doing anything but spinning again. I give it one more jiggle and the whole valve came right out of the wall! Wow. Just WOW. Remember how there isn't a phone in the room to call down to the front? So my bf walks to the front desk to explain our plight. A few minutes later a maintenance worker is in our bathroom attempting to fix the shower. After tooling around for 10 minutes he says it can't be fixed without more tools. He radioed down to the front desk to ask if any other rooms were available for us to move to. We can hear the response, "There are no more rooms in the tower". Awesome. He leaves to get the tools and our 11pm start time has come and gone. He returned and tried for another 15 minutes before saying he was going to head downstairs for something.
At this point we're ready to just leave. I head down to the front desk to let them know we're leaving. A gentleman in a backwards baseball cap let's me know immediately that they're working on moving us. I ask where they would move us (since there were no rooms available). He gestures to the pool and tells us there's a room available there but someone has to come down to move us... I can see and hear the party that is underway in the pool area and politely decline. We'd like to leave and would like our money refunded. He can refund the deposit and "resort" fee, but I'll have to call and speak to his manager tomorrow for the full refund.
This is the first time I've left a hotel at 12am. Not exactly what you expect to happen when you're just trying to have a nice time with your bf...
Just don't stay here folks. You will regret it.
