| - We decided to skip Eddie's and try the competition.
Three on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated quickly. Service, not a strong suit. It took a minute or two for our server to get around to us. It wasn't crowded. More at the bar.
Our group had the haddock sand, prohib burger and I got the chicken fried chicken. The sands came with fries or sweet potato tots. Fries are fries. The tots? Very good. I enjoyed them more than my sister. Sweet and salty. More sweet but definitely worth a try. They split sands and shared. Haddock got rave reviews the burger not as much. I has an entree that came with 2 sides. They were out of my first choice potato cake so I went with mac and cheese and grits. I'm no veg head and I swear cheese does make everything better but the selection could use some variety. Mostly starchy choices, green beans and slaw. Anyway, I'm paranoid about ordering grits. I always suspect they were cooked early that morning and kept on life support all day. I went against instinct and won't do that again. The mac was watery, lacked body or any distinctive cheesy flavor or appeal, noodles were well cooked but sauce disappointed. The gravy on my chicken was bland and unimpressive. I scraped it off to get to the highlight. The chicken was flat out good. I did not share. 1) entree portion was very small 2) not getting much from the accompanying sides. I did snag a few tots, that helped, It was moist, tender and well seasoned. I'm not big on the crunchy crispy outside trend. We didn't have a frydaddy growing up. We did have cast iron. Clearly chicken is well respected here and it shows. I considered dessert, (light supper), but was disappointed at a short list that offered 2 puddings and more super sweet choices.
Service lacked. The only person that seemed to have any kind of hustle was the young lady that brought out our food. She also brought out most everyone else s. Servers seemed to clear tables and take orders. I hope they pool tips.
Will I return? Probably not. Can't see myself passing by Eddies where service is pretty tight and I feel like I get more bang for my buck and more and better choices. Will I think about that chicken again. Hell Yeah! Best to them!
