My rating would have been higher but the receptionist ended up being a real B. When I came out of the exam room with my cat, the technician came out a minute or so later with a prescription bottle and a piece of paper. The paper was information on how to help your pet that is going blind since I just received the news that there was no hope for my cats eyesight. The prescription bottle contained a small tube of Terramycin ointment. In the meantime my husband was paying the bill. When he finished, he handed the receipt to me. I was appalled to see a charge of $48.00 plus tax for the ointment. I returned to the reception counter and told the receptionist I did not want the medicine and that I had a new tube of it at home. She immediately became hostile, stomped out from behind the counter with the medicine and asked me if I wanted a prescription for the ointment. I told her no I already had a new tube of it. She became further annoyed with me because I didn't understand that she meant for the future. At that point she turned on her heels and stomped back to her place behind the counter.
There was an elderly lady in the waiting area. I looked at her quizzically and she rubbed her fingers together indicating that her takeaway, from the hostility I received, was about the money. I mentioned to her that the receptionists attitude was an about face from when we arrived. I also told her I wasn't going to pay $48.+ for ointment I already had and could also get online for $13.00, if I needed it, and without a prescription. The elderly lady shrugged acknowledging she witnessed what I was talking about.
I can't remember ever being made to feel so uncomfortable. This woman was caustic and unpleasant in her tone and attitude over my not wanting the medicine. She neither knew nor cared that I had just received devastating news about my cats eyesight. As far as the medicine, I was neither told I needed it or asked if I wanted it. I will never go back. The next time I need a specialist, I'll go back to the Las Vegas Veterinary Specialty Center.
