  • We went to the Rick Bronson's House of Comedy on a whim. This place far exceeds other comedy shows I've been to. PJ was in a league of his own as a server. Given the nature of comedy clubs, this makes his efficiency and friendliness even more impressive. My past experiences with comedy clubs has been mixed. In theory, comedy show should be epic. Who has an aversion to laughing, cocktails and noshing on junk food. Admittedly, I'm particular when it comes to service, food and cleanliness. I'm also a tough audience. My friends would eagerly fill this review with the multitude of things I find "annoying", but this is my review. I'm a fan of Kathy Griffin, Margaret Cho, Chelsea Handler (until fame led her believe slurring through an already half ass set was what we came for). Years ago, arrived at a comedy club and within minutes, dread swept over. The line of men rocking soul patch's, donning Ed Hardy shirts and grown women in velour pants with "JUICY" strategically placed was endless. When we finally arrived at the front, we were told we couldn't sit together. This is where I shine and the main reason my friends tolerate me. I explained to the "bouncer" in a trucker hat that we'd shown up at the specified time, waited an hour and that we'd likely perish from spending an hour inhaling Axe body spray. When I asked for a manage, trucker hat led us to "VIP" seats. We thought we'd hit the mother lode. We eagerly opened our menus, only to sigh in unison. There would be no cleaning house, a cheap beer was a stretch. This turned out to be a small issue as we only saw the waiter once. Sorry, I digress, my actual purpose was to review RICK BRONSONS HOUSE OF COMEDY. What a breath of fresh air. The wait was brief and efficient. We were seated in great area and everyone was courteous. Despite rubbing elbows with complete strangers, we had a fantastic time. This evening was an entirely different experience than that of any other comedy club I've been to. Looking around, I feared there weren't enough wait staff and the wait could be long. I was thrilled to see the reasonably priced menu had a variety of great options. We'd barely closed our menu's when "PJ" came to take our order. He didn't flinch at my deliberately toned down "modifications" on my order. He was friendly, but I thought to myself "there's no way he will get all that right". I decided to deal with whatever he brought as the place was packed and he was very nice. I was stunned when our order arrived quickly and everything was perfection. This doesn't typically happen in the slowest of restaurants. For the remainder of the evening, PJ kept our glasses full and was on top of his game. The show presented 4 sharp comedians that had us laughing. The headliner was Alice Weitterlund and she was awesome. I highly recommend you check out Rick Bronson's House of Comedy. Ask for PJ... You won't be disappointed. We'll be back.
