  • A Pittsburgh Institution We were sent by our son and his wife to buy a Burnt Almond Torte, which is a house favorite and comes in three versions -- custard, chocolate, and "travel". The first two have to be refrigerated before consumption and as we weren't able to do that we chose the "travel" version which was very good (but not quite to the standard of the custard that our son prefers, we were told). This is a neighborhood bakery with a lot of repeat business and there were many other tempting offerings behind the glass counter.
