  • No, my Yelp account has not been hacked. I am REALLY giving a Jeni's scoop shop 3 stars. And it breaks my heart. Let me start by saying that Jeni's ice cream is consistently named the best in America. I whole-heartedly agree; this is some life-altering stuff. So, if you're looking for amazing frozen confections, please ignore my 3 stars and go to Jeni's right now. My beef is with the Chagrin Falls store... Here's the deal: I'm one of Jeni's biggest cheerleaders - telling people far and wide about her amazing story and about her even more amazing ice cream. Up till yesterday, I had been to every single scoop shop (including Nashville) except for the one in Chagrin Falls. Call me a brand ambassador - or maybe a groupie? But nevertheless, I'm most definitely a fanboy. Well, on my first trip to Cleveland, I just had to go to the final Jeni's on my list. Chagrin Falls is a very quaint suburb of Cleveland, and it looked like a perfect fit with everything Jeni's. But things quickly fell apart. When we walked in, nobody greeted us. We had a first-timer with us, and none of the staff offered to help him navigate the flavor choices. I had to personally make recommendations and explain the different concepts. To top it off, the guy getting samples wouldn't even look at my friend and kept handing me the little spoonfuls instead - even after telling him twice that they were all for my friend. When my friend was ready to order, the rude guy didn't even care to explain how the different sizes work or that he could get half scoops - once again, I had to do all this. The Mister and I decided to split our go-to item: the roasted cherry cheesecake parfait. This is hands-down one of the best desserts on the planet, and we've gotten it at almost every one of the scoop shops. But in Chagrin Falls, it was a big gloppy mess. It was haphazardly made, and it just didn't taste right. We literally left half in the bowl - it was that bad. I honestly have no clue what's going on at the Chagrin Falls shop, but it's terrible. At every other Jeni's location, the people embody the brand, and you get a consistently amazing experience every time - even at the furthest shop all the way down in Nashville. I'm going back to Cleveland for my birthday in December, and I want to give this shop a second chance. I sincerely hope my feedback is helpful to them (and not bitchy), and I hope these employees start drinking the Jeni's Kool-Aid that everybody else already does.
