| - I run a dog rescue in Phoenix, AZ. I brought one of my dogs to Lorenzo's dog training, specifically to Anton Yablonsky, and was assured by him that they could address all of my dog's issues. I also had to board my dog with them because I was leaving the state for 3 weeks on a rescue transport. Right before I left town, I found out by another trainer that Lorenzo's team uses shock collars to train all their dogs. I called Anton immediately and forbid him to use the collar. Anton explained that they would not be able to train my dog properly without the shock collar, but they would respect my wishes and continue the training without using a shock collar.
When I returned to town and picked up my dog, the first thing I noticed was how frightened she appeared. I was also told by a trainer (not Anton) but my dog had a wound on her neck that was healing. He said an ant bit her! Interesting, the wound was right where a shock collar would have been placed. In addition to having a frightened dog, I had a dog returned to me who still had all of her issues intact and even developed more undesirable issues. When I addressed my concerns with the corporate office they dismissed my complaints and said I would not receive any refund.
Long story, short I now have a dead dog. Her behaviorial issues (that the trainer supposedly addressed) became worse. Because of safety concerns, the dog had to be euthanized.
So, buyer beware when choosing this company. This is what you need to know: You will be charged $50 for some "magic" leash they insist you use in training. They rely on shock collars for their training (any reputable trainer/behaviorist will tell you shock collars are cruel and unnecessary) and they are all about negative reinforcement. All of this was supposed to be "revealed" to me at the 45 minute initial consultation. I never received a consultation--they just took my credit card during the first meeting.
I truly hate this company and I will everything in my power to make sure no dog will suffer under their care.
