| - I really want to like this place, it's local, it's cute and mod, it has drive through coffee and bakery items in the morning. But, what it comes down to is the very low quality of ingredients used in most dishes.
Chicken, hands down the cheapest T brand one can buy, and one can taste. Baked chicken has the very obvious stink of the ingredient, I can't even hold down one bite.
Fish, taste like W brand cheap fish thawed at room temperature instead of fridge. The bad taste doesn't go away even when coated and fried. I would stay away from all fish dishes.
Pancakes, I don't know how one can make a bad tasting pancake, but Market diner's pancakes are dense, no fluff, with taste of too much baking soda.
Breakfast buffet, it's about $10 per person, with selection of about 10 dishes, and super tiny cut down pieces of their various bakery items. Not worth the money.
Bakery items, I'm sorry but the Carl's Cakes items aren't that good. Carrot cakes and certain muffins are made with frosting instead of cream cheese. One can taste there are real sugar and cream in the ingredient, but the diner decide to cheap out and also mix in the artificial stuff, creating a level of dessert that above typical grocery store level bakery goods, but no where comparable to real bakery or any premium grocery bakery goods.
Sandwiches, burgers and salads are good enough, especially salad portions are very large.
All and all I'm not expecting a diner to buy the most fresh and expensive ingredients out there, but there has to be a minimum level of quality, and the cooks need to learn to compensate low quality taste with flavors.
