  • Unlike a previous 1 star reviewer here, I have to give this fine custard experience 4.5 to 5 stars. Giving 'ECOFC' 1 star is WAY off the mark in my estimation! Yes, 'Dairy King' makes phenomenal 'old fashioned' custard, which is a little different than East Coast, Rosati's, etc. vanilla flavor. I've had it often and agree. It could very well be the best. In any case, I believe I know true custard as well. I grew up on the East Coast, ironically, and used to have old-fashioned custard served at legendary amusement parks like Coney Island, Rye Playland, and Palisades Amusement Park (i'm in my 50's). East Coast custard is sweet, rich, and creamy textured, as custard should be, with seemingly just the right amount of ingredient mix and ratios. It comes very close to the classic custards I imbibed growing up where custard was king and somewhere at the top of the 'summer fun food pyramid'! There is no single 'right way' to make old-fashioned custard, as it does vary a little bit from place to place. But to claim this is akin to ice cream is wrong. It's very much custard, consistency-wise and taste-wise. So folks, enjoy East Coast custard as the very positive taste and gastronomical experience that it truly is!
