I was a very happy flyer when I was able to convince my company to have us fly Porter rather than Air Canada for a business trip to Toronto the other week.
Air Canada's not bad -- I'd say that they compare well to a lot of the legacy airlines we have stateside, but Porter takes a page out of the JetBlue/Virgin America playbook and tries to offer something a bit nicer than usual and they deliver all around.
Sure, it's a little turboprop plane, but you do get a sweet lounge to hang out in while at Toronto City Airport and free (boozy) drinks in flight.
Toronto City Airport is a pleasure to fly into and out of, with super-short customs lines on the way in and super-short security lines on the way out. The landing approach with a full view of the Toronto skyline is an nice bonus.
There's no inflight entertainment and the ride isn't quite as smooth, but the pre- and post-flight experience is more than enough to make up for that -- Porter will definitely be our airline of choice for future trips to Toronto.
